NOTE: this is the entire DC, MD, VA, & UT Concealed Carry Course. If more convenient, students may complete the four segments over multiple weekends, but should return to the events page and register for each part seperately.
DC and Maryland both give residents and non-residents the right to apply for a concealed carry permit, given that she/he meets the legal criteria and completes the training requirements with a certified instructor.
The required 16 hours of classroom instruction and 2 hours of range training are completed in-person at the NRA Headquarters, located at 11250 Waples Mill Rd., Fairfax, VA 22030.
FFT's course is broken into four parts that students may complete over multiple weekends to accomodate schedules. Students can also complete the training requirements for Virginia and Utah permits at the same time (additional $49 each).
Part 1 covers the required curriculums regarding basic pistol knowledge and functionality. This segment doubles as an Intro to Firearms & Pistol Shooting Course and is family-friendly. Kids aged 7 and older are welcome to join.
Part 2 will shift the focus to concealed carry, self-defense law, the legal system, and interacting with law enforcement. This segment doubles as a Virginia/Utah CCW course for those wishing to obtain permits in VA and/or UT as well.
Part 3 will dive deeper into the concealed carry mindset, how to recognize a potential threat and train for an attack, or better yet - how to avoid an altercation altogether. Students will also complete the required range training and shooting qualifications during this segment.
Part 4 will focus exclusively on DC and Maryland laws regarding firearms, concealed carry, prohibited/restricted places for carry, use of deadly force, and the application processes.
